Summer Social: Aurora & Arrival City
July 6, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
FREEJoin us on Friday 6 July for a summer social and open-discussion about Aurora and Arrival City at Toxteth Town Hall.
These two projects are brought together through their shared interest in Toxteth’s history and invite local residents of all ages to come and participate in an open discussion. In response to a lineup of poets, rappers and musicians offering their viewpoint through their words and sounds, we would like to know what you think about Toxteth’s history, and together, celebrate your vision of the future.
Alongside the discussion, there will be an interactive mini maker-faire, playfully exploring the themes of Aurora ahead of the launch later this year.
Aurora is an epic, immersive experience that will take over the grand, iron-pillared interior of Toxteth Reservoir in September 2018. Up to 50 people will enter the space at any one time to experience a surprising and astonishing feast for the senses, with artists combining interactive technologies with water to evolve the artwork each day it is live.
Arrival City presents a portrait of Liverpool, and more specifically Toxteth, as a city of migration. The project will delve into Liverpool’s history as an important port city and bring to the surface what makes it one of the most unique ‘arrival cities’ in the UK.
