In addition to the events below, art work will appear and disappear across the city thanks to our commissioned artists… More events are being added all the time so come back soon!
Many of the buildings on this walk were built for and by migrant refugee communities because Liverpool has such a multi-cultural history eg Jewish, Greek, Welsh, Scottish, Irish, German, West African… and Ethiopian. The walk is all about appreciating the outward expression of our wonderful cultural heritage and where it came from.
The walk will be led by Dr Robert Macdonald of Liverpool John Moores University. Dr Macdonald was born on Lodge Lane and his family is half Irish and Scottish. His father assisted many West African Boxers to come and settle around Granby and had pet shops on Lodge Lane, Park Road and Tunnel Road and a gym in Edge Hill. This is the life experience that he brings to Festival31 and to his understanding of Liverpool.
PLEASE BOOK TO TAKE PART IN THIS WALK: e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know you want to join in… Simples!
The walk will start from Liverpool Anglican Cathedral at 11am, and end for soft refreshments in historic Peter Kavanagh’s at approximately 1pm.
